MC Huron Valley-Sinai
Hospital is helping to
make a mammogram
easier and more pleasant by host-
ing a Simply Mam celebration on
Thursday, May 7.
In honor of Mother's Day, the
hospital invites all women, moth-
ers and daughters to an evening
of health information, pamper-
ing, refreshments and a mam-
mogram from 5-7:30 p.m. at the
Sinai Center for Women on the
hospital campus in Commerce
Township.
Women of all ages are invited
to schedule mammograms and
bone-density tests, participate in
physician-led discussions, custom
bra fitting and hospital tours, and
enjoy chocolates, fine cheeses and
other refreshments. The program
is free, but participants' insurance
will be billed for any adminis-
tered tests.
"Our goal is for mammography
to be a more pleasant experi-
ence by combining it with some
fun activities and camaraderie
with other women," said Sharona
Shapiro, Huron Valley-Sinai's
director of development. "We also
want to help professional women
who have a prescription for a
mammogram to come in when it
is more convenient after work."
Simply Mam is sponsored
by WomenForce, the hospital's
membership group that sup-
ports women's health initiatives
and programs, including the
Sinai Center For Women and
the Charach Cancer Treatment
Center.
WomenForce co-chairs are
Elena Brand and Sheryll Kollin
of Farmington Hills, Gail Offen
of Hartland and Leslie Pardo of
Livonia.
Participants need to make
a reservation by calling (248)
937-3800. A mammogram pre-
scription and proof of insurance
are required for testing. Women
interested in learning more
about WomenForce should call
(248) 937-3680. ❑
