FREDA BELLE SPECTOR, 91, of Oak
Park, died March 13, 2008.
Known to her children as "Mum",
her grandchildren as "Grammy," her
great granddaughter as "GG" (for
great-grandmother), and to everyone
else as "Auntie Freda',' she was born in
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
She quietly lived a life of doing
kind things for people while refus-
ing any recognition or compensation,
the definition of Random Acts of
Kindness. Nothing made her happier
than spending hours calling people on
the phone just to brighten their day or
to lend a hand. Of course, she never
wanted anyone to call her for worry
that "they shouldn't have to pay for the
call."
She lived her life fully under the
belief that we are here to help each
other, and this lesson by example will
live on forever. If everyone were as
kind and selfless as Auntie Freda, life
would be a paradise.
Mrs. Spector is survived by her
sister, Pearl Rosenhek, 92; children,
Bob and Ursula Spector, Mollie
Wittenberg, Lorraine Spector; grand-
children, Jamie and Staci Wittenberg,
Jodie Wittenberg, Robert Wittenberg,

Steven Spector, Sonia Bergen Spector-
Tarsitano; great-grandchildren, Arielle
and Talia Wittenberg, Ruby Petrakos.
She was a loving sister of the late
Louie and the late Jake Nimchonok;
devoted wife for 57 years of the late
Charles Spector.
A memorial service was held at
Dorfman Chapel. Interment and
shivah were held in Winnipeg.
Contributions may be made by plant-
ing a tree in Israel or by making a
donation to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel.
