SHARON"SHIFFY"
LEFKOFSKY, 73,
died March 3, 2008,
in Sunrise, Fla.
She was born,
raised and lived in
Detroit/Oak Park
and later New York
Lef kofsky
City. She worked
in and later retired
in Florida. Mrs.
Lefkofsky received her bachelor's
and master's degrees in occupational
therapy from Wayne State University
in Detroit and in 1992 received a doc-
torate in occupational therapy and sci-
ences from New York University.
She had over 45 years of hands-on,
clinical and teaching experience with-
in her chosen field of occupational
therapy. She was a pioneer within the
OT profession and community when it
was still a young and unknown voca-
tion.
For her dissertation, she conducted
original research on techniques and
concepts dealing with "Spasticity and
the Disabled Patient." Findings from
her research have been published in
many scholarly occupational therapy
journals, textbooks and professional
manuals.
Mrs. Lefkofsky is survived by a son,
Mitchell Lefkofsky; daughter, Sandra
Lefkofsky; daughter-in-law Sally;
dear grandson, Yonah; sister, Helen
Fink; brother, Sam Diskin; many lov-
ing nieces and nephews, grandnieces
and grandnephews and dear life-long
friends from across the world, who
will always miss her caring touch,
warm smile, nurturing and loving
ways very, very deeply. She was for-
merly married to Herbert Lefkofsky of
Detroit for 15 years.

SEYMOUR J. LOEWENBERG, 88, of
Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Detroit,
died March 9, 2008. He was a salesper-
son of men's clothing.
Mr. Loewenberg is survived by his
sister-in-law, Claire Loewenberg of
Boca Raton; cousins, Frances Finsilver
and Gail Soskin; other relatives and
friends.
He was the beloved son of the late
Emil and the late Amelia Loewenberg;
the cherished brother of the late
Wilbur Loewenberg.
Interment at Clover Hill Park

Cemetery. Contributions may be made

Klein Blvd., Boca Raton, FL 33433.

WILLIAM JOSEPH MAXBAUER,
86, a lifelong resident of Traverse City,
died March 14, 2008.
He attended officers candidate
school at Indiana University while
serving in the U.S. Army.
As World War II reached its deci-
sive years, he served in the European
Theater with the 120th Armored
Division.
In 1954, he and his brother John
opened Maxbauer's Ace Hardware on
Front Street in Traverse City. After 32
years, Mr. Maxbauer retired from the
hardware business and found a pas-
sion and second career as a volunteer
at the Immaculate Conception Food
Pantry.
He was deeply troubled by the
number of families struggling to feed
their families and was committed to
do all he could to ease their suffer-
ing.
Mr. Maxbauer is survived by
his sons and daughters-in-law,
Raymond and Geri Maxbauer
of Traverse City, Paul and Susan
Maxbauer of Traverse City, Leo and
Jeanne Maxbauer of Bloomfield
Hills, William Maxbauer Jr. and Jan
Maxbauer of Ann Arbor; daughters
and sons-in-law, Rita and Douglas
Landry of Fort Worth, Texas, Mancy
and Jagannath Amberker of St.
Augustine, Fla., Rose and Mort
Neff of Lansing, Grace Maxbauer
of Traverse City; brother, John
Maxbauer of Traverse City; eighteen
grandchildren, including Leo's chil-
dren, Samson, Reuben and Kendell
Maxbauer; four great-grandchil-
dren.
He was the beloved husband of the
late Mary Joan Maxbauer; compan-
ion and dear friend of the late Marge
Wenzel.
Services and interment in Traverse
