DIANE JANET LIGHTSTONE
KEMPER, 75, of Southfield, died

May 4, 2005. A retired Ferndale
School teacher for over 27 years, she
had received her master's degree
from Wayne State University.
Mrs. Kemper was active with the
Nucleus Group, an alumni organiza-
tion of Central High School. She
taught at Mettetal School and the
Paul L. Best School. She also won
the My Favorite Teacher award from
the Detroit News. Mrs. Kemper
helped write the math achievement
test as part of the Phonics Work
Study Program. She also founded
and owned Specialized Sales Inc., a
gifts and advertising company,
which grew to San Diego, Chicago,
Ohio, New York, Maryland,
Oklahoma and even Japan where

Detroit, Mrs. Kemper was also a
volunteer and member of Temple
Beth El, Michigan Educational

Association, Michigan Association
for Retired School Personnel and
the Advertising Specialty Institute.
She is survived by her daughter
and her partner, Nancy Kemper and
Patti Brown of La Jolla, Calif.; son,
David Kemper of Encino, Calif..
She was the mother-in-law of the
late Sue Silkiss; daughter of the late
Julia and the late Harry Lightstone;
sister of the late Merilyn Schwartz;
sister—in-law of the late David
Schwartz.
Interment at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park Cemetery.
