JANET GURIAN, 83, of Farmington
Hills, died March 10.
She is survived by her brothers and

law, George Prevost. Mrs. Gurian was
the beloved wife of the late Charles
Gurian; loving sister of the late Esther
Sandler, the late Hilda Prevost.

Detroiter of Boca Raton, Fla., died
March 10. Born in
Germany, she
escaped the Nazis in
1937 and arrived in
Detroit, where she
lived for the next 57
years.
With her hus-
band, she owned a
wholesale jewelry
Friedel Hopfeld
firm, Fred Hopfeld
and Company. She
contributed generously to many
Jewish and children's charities.
She is survived by her daughter
Helga Schneider; grandchildren, Ron
and Sandy Hirsch, Michael Hirsch;
great-grandaughter, Halle Nicole
Hirsch. She was the beloved wife of
the late Fred Hopfeld.
Interment at Beth Tfilo Emanuel
Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to Shaare Zedek Hospital in
Jerusalem.
