War II. He then trained in London and
served with the Allied Forces in Africa
and Europe. He was a prisoner of war in
Germany, but made his escape with 10
others and was one of two to make it
safely to allied lines. He was with the
allied forces when France was liberated.
The last of 11 children, nine of whom
died in concentration camps, he managed
to escape being in the camps. He stole a
Nazi uniform and entered the camps to
see his family before they died.
He was a furniture executive and
owner of Kohler Studios. He was active
with many charitable Jewish organiza-
tions and a member of Congregation
Beth Shalom.
Mr. Kolar is survived by his wife,
Nancy Kolar; sister-in-law, Dorothy
Carduzucci of Florida.
Interment at Beth Abraham

MAX KOLAR, 88, of Southfield, died
March 9. He fought with Tito and the
Southfield, died March 6.
She is survived by her daughter and

Detroit Scrap Metals Companies.

grandchildren. He was the beloved son
