Born in Germany, she escaped the Nazis in 1937 and arrived in Detroit, where she lived for the next 57 years. With her hus- band, she owned a wholesale jewelry Friedel Hopfeld firm, Fred Hopfeld and Company. She contributed generously to many Jewish and children's charities. She is survived by her daughter Helga Schneider; grandchildren, Ron and Sandy Hirsch, Michael Hirsch; great-grandaughter, Halle Nicole Hirsch. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred Hopfeld.
