DR. PHILLIP SHEAR, 83, of
Southfield, died Dec. 16. He was an
optometrist and owner of Harper
Optical in Detroit. During World War
II, he was stationed in the European
Theatre and received a Bronze Star. He
was also a member of the American
Legion Post 1 in Warren and a mem-
ber of the Wolverine Bike Club.
Dr. Shear is survived by his son,
Laurence Shear; grandchildren, Jeffrey
and Laurie Shear; brother, Irwin Shear;
sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and
Donald Freeman. He was the beloved
husband of the late Rose Shear; the
loving brother of the late Ronald
Shear; dear brother-in-law of the late
Edith Shear. Interment at Machpelah
Cemetery. Contributions may be
directed to the American Heart
Association or the Asthma and Allergy
Foundation of Michigan.

DOUGLAS CURT SHERMAN, 78,
of Southfield, died Dec. 15. He was a
stockbroker. He escaped Austria and
came to the United States and joined
the Army and went back to Europe as
an Army sharpshooter during World
War II.
Mr. Sherman is survived by his
wife, Betty Rae Sherman; son and
daughter-in-law, Philip and Suzanne
Sherman of Royal Oak and grandchil-
dren, Brian and his fiancee Emily
Kanaga.

ALBERT SHIFMAN, 67, of
Scottsdale, Ariz., died Dec. 15. For 44
years, he was the owner of Shifman's
Men's Wear in Waterford. He was also
a member of B'nai B'rith and the
Michigan Retailers Association.
Mr. Shifman is survived by his wife,
Gloria Shifman; sons and daughter-in-
law, Peter Singer, Stewart and Cindy
Shifman of West Bloomfield; daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Lori and Mark
Epstein, Ellen and Dave Grollman;
andchildren, Jordan and Zachary
ifman, Steven and Michael Epstein;
sister, Rosalie Fox of West Bloomfield;
brother and sister-in-law, Allen and
Danielle Shi•fman.
