Participants in Israel Action Day — an
afternoon of activities on Israel's behalf
Sunday, Dec. 3 — will have the chance
to e-mail messages of support to Israel,
learn how to be effective advocates for
Israel and hear details of the Michigan
Unity Mission to Israel.
The event, including a speaker and
briefings on developments in Israel, will
take place from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Hillel
Day School of Metropolitan Detroit.
Sponsors are the American Jewish
Committee, Anti-Defamation League,
Jewish Community Council and Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
Twenty-five computers will be set up
at the school for individuals to send
messages to friends, relatives and resi-
dents of the central Galilee, the Detroit
Jewish community's sister region
through Partnership 2000. Attendees

also will be able to sign a banner of soli-
darity and write prayers for insertion in
the Western Wall, carried to Israel by
participants in the Michigan Unity
Mission.
The briefing on the Michigan Unity
Mission, which will take place Jan. 14-
19, will be provided by one of Israel's
foremost tour planners, Tzvika Gerstel.
Gerstel will outline the itinerary of the
trip, which is sponsored by Federation
and the Jewish News in cooperation with
congregations and organizations
throughout the state.
Preceding Israel Action Day is
Solidarity Shabbat on Dec. 1-2, when
local congregational leaders will speak
and lead prayers for peace. The
Michigan Board of Rabbis and the
Council of Orthodox Rabbis have
endorsed Solidarity Shabbat.
