Dr. Green is an authority on environ-
mental microbiology sterilization and
disinfection and epidemiology. He
worked for NASA and is professor
emeritus of public health and epidemiol-
ogy at Ben-Gurion University Medical
School in Beersheva.
A buffet dinner will be served at 6
p.m. The cost for the dinner is $15 for
adults, $7.50 for children. For reserva-

Mitzvah Day
Needs Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help spruce up
shelters, serve food to the needy, provide
companionship to older adults and
relieve workers who wish to spend the
holidays with their families for Mitzvah
Day — A Volunteer Extravaganza, Dec.
25. The Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit is the sponsor.
Volunteers will meet in the morning
at the Max M. Fisher Federation
Building in Bloomfield Township, where
a site coordinator will direct groups to
locations around the metro Detroit area
to participate in Mitzvah Day.
Among the agencies and organiza-
tions that will be assisted through
Volunteer Extravaganza are Danto
Family Health Care Center, Eastwood
Convalescent Center, Children's Home
of Detroit and Coalition on Temporary
Shelter.
The Volunteer Extravaganza is a
cooperative venture of the Jewish
Federation's Community Outreach and
Education Department, Young Adult
Division and Michigan/Israel
Connection.
Chairing the event are Alan Stern,
Karen Safran and Mirjam Gunz-
Schwarcz. Reservations are required by
Dec. 11.
