Kol Ami Hosts
Oakland Homeless

Temple Kol Ami will house participants
of a South Oakland Shelter program.
The people being housed are employed
— some at temporary jobs, some part
time, some at minimum-wage levels —
but all earning too little to provide
homes for themselves and their families.
From Nov. 5-12, as many as 30 peo-
ple per day, including children, will be
transported by chartered bus from the
South Oakland Shelter in Royal Oak to
Temple Kol Ami. Temple volunteers will
prepare and serve complete dinners each
evening. Following an evening snack,
guests will spend the night.
After breakfast and supplied with a
brown-bag lunch, prepared and served
by temple volunteers, the people will be
transported by bus back to the South
Oakland Shelter or to their jobs.
Temple Kol Ami coordinators of the
event are Sallyjo Levine and Barbara
Osher.
