OAK PARK HIGH CLASS OF 1975 Jewish Tradition Is Explored Eilu Eilu, the adult Jewish learning project of the Michigan Conservative movement, is holding a learning initia- tive, "Masoret: Explorations of the Jewish Tradition," a comprehensive overview of Jewish concepts for adult learners. It is being team-taught by local Conservative rabbis and meets 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays at the Max M. Fisher Federation Building, 6735 Telegraph, Bloomfield Twp. Masoret is organized as a series of five study modules, each consisting of five sessions (10 study hours). The next module, "Jewish History Through the Ages," will begin Nov. 15, with additional sessions Nov. 29; Dec. 6, 13, 20. The remaining three modules will be offered starting in January: "Jewish Life Cycle (Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31; Feb. 7); "Jewish Prayer and Liturgy (Feb. 28, March 7, 14, 21, 28); "Exploring Jewish Theology" (May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30). Teaching various sessions in the Jewish history unit will be Rabbis Jay Strear, Hal Greenwald and Daniel Nevins. Tuition is $70 per module plus a $20 book fee. Kol Ami Hosts Oakland Homeless Temple Kol Ami will house participants of a South Oakland Shelter program. The people being housed are employed — some at temporary jobs, some part time, some at minimum-wage levels — but all earning too little to provide homes for themselves and their families. From Nov. 5-12, as many as 30 peo- ple per day, including children, will be transported by chartered bus from the South Oakland Shelter in Royal Oak to Temple Kol Ami. Temple volunteers will prepare and serve complete dinners each evening. Following an evening snack, guests will spend the night. After breakfast and supplied with a brown-bag lunch, prepared and served by temple volunteers, the people will be transported by bus back to the South Oakland Shelter or to their jobs.
