ROBERT A. SLOMAN, 85, of South-
eld, died Dec. 28. Mr. Sloman, who

ago, was a patent
lawyer and found-
ing partner of
Cullen, Soloman,
Cantor, Scott and
Rutherford who
were in business
for 40 years and
one the largest

premier patent
firm in that era.
In 1934, Mr. Sloman graduated
from the University of Michigan School
of Engineering and was a third genera-
tion graduate of the University of
Michigan Law School. Mr. Sloman was
a member of the Engineering Society,
, Michigan
Bar Association, Legal Aid
.
-,ociety, a past president of the Exchange
Club, a past president of the Great
Lakes Club and a member of the Recess
Club. His family was the "founding
family" of Temple Beth El and a six
generation family. He also enjoyed gar-
dening and for many years had a green-
house and was had the ability to fix just
about anything.
— Mr. Sloman is survived by his wife,
Eleanor Sloman; son and daughter-in-
law, Steven and Margaret Sloman of
New York; daughter and son-in-law,
Sally and Frederick Marx of Bloomfield
Hills; grandchildren, Celeste and Ryder
/)Sloman, Julie, Andrew, Carolyn and
Scott Marx; sisters and brother-in-law,
Elaine and Lippman Lumberg of Farm-
\ington Hills and Janet Berman and sis-
t ers-in-law and brother-in-law, Adele
Schlafer, Benjamin Frank and Anne Slo-
man. He was the dear brother of the
late William Sloman and the late Peggy
Frank.
