tinued her work long after she,

died of AIDS. It was because of
Elizabeth Glaser's efforts that
these two CDs were recorded,

For Our Children, Too! (lad
Rhino Records, 1996)

Imagine prominent singers
from every area of music ap-
pearing on a single CD. Imag-
ine that not a one of the artists
is making a penny from the
recording.
"For Our Children, Too!" is
the latest in a series of CDs to
benefit the Pediatric AIDS
Foundation, established by
Elizabeth Glaser (1947-1994),
who created the fund after her
daughter, Mel, died of the dis-
ease. Profits from "For Our
Children, Too!" go to the foun-
dation, as did those of the first
"For Our Children," a thor-
oughly wonderful collection
featuring such artists as Barbra
Streisand, Heart, Bruce Spring-

steen, Paul McCartney and
Bette Midler.
Of course you'll feel good us-
ing your money to benefit this
exceptional cause. But wait un-
til you hear the music. It is, in a
word, fabulous.
"For Our Children, Too!" in-
cludes the talents of Vanessa
Williams, Elton John, Natalie
Cole, Natalie Merchant, Baby-
face, Toni Braxton
and Seal, among oth-
ers. With such a col-
lection, it would be
difficult to pick any
single outstanding
number. But Toni
Braxton's version of
Oscar Brown Junior's
"Brown Baby" is
enough to stop traffic.
Her voice is breath-
taking.
Richard Marx's
"Angel's Lullaby" also is good
for at least 100 million hear-
ings, and you would have to be
a piece of cardboard not to be
completely charmed by Amy
Grant's "My Buddy"
Before her marriage to actor
Paul-Michael Glaser (of
"Starsky and Hutch" fame),
Elizabeth Glaser was a teacher.
After her daughter contracted
AIDS, she devoted her life to
raising funds to help other chil-

Innocent Voices: The Verse
of Terezin's Children (Lost
Planet Records, Inc. 1996)

It's difficult to find fault with
recordings that clearly have the
best of intentions. It's frustrat-
ing, too, to say that a produc-
tion featuring the words of
children who died in the Holo-
caust is so unmoving. Unfortu-
nately, that's the case with this

new recording, "Innocent
Voices: The Verse of Terezin's
Children."
There's always an under- 3
stood danger in putting a new
twist on any work of art. Film
makers speak ad nauseam
about the anxiety they feel
while making a movie from a
well-known and much -loved
novel. And how often have
you heard "new versions" of
