JTS Hosts
Pesach Talks

A three-part Passover series is
scheduled for 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Thursdays, March 28, April 3
and 10, sponsored by the Detroit
Friends of the Jewish Theologi-
cal Seminary and the United
Synagogue for Conservative Ju-
daism Michigan Region at the
Max M. Fisher Federation Build-
ing.
Preceding the study session,
a light lunch will be available
starting at noon.
The series will be kicked off by
Rabbi Irwin Groner of Congre-
gation Shaarey Zedek. He will
discuss "Secrets of the Hag-
gadah."
Rabbi Daniel Nevins of Adat
Shalom Synagogue will speak
April 3 on "How to Prepare Your
Home: the Laws of Passover
Kashrut."
Rabbi Aaron Bergman of Con-
gregation Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses will speak April 10 on
"From Family to People: the Ex-
odus Story."
There is no cost for study and
a nominal cost for lunch. For

Jewish Life
In Poland

The Midrasha Center for Adult
Jewish Studies of the Agency for
Jewish Education and Congre-
gation B'nai David will present
"Jewish Life in Poland Today," 8
p.m. Monday, March 24, at Con-
gregation B'nai David, 5642 W.
Maple Rd. in West Bloomfield.
The evening will feature Rab-
bi Michael Schudrich, executive
director of the Lauder Founda-
tion in Poland. Rabbi Schudrich,
an American rabbi who was for-
merly the rabbi of the Tokyo,
Japan, Jewish community, is in-
volved in the effort to rebuild
Jewish life in Poland.
The Lauder Foundation has
established a Jewish school, four
youth clubs and a summer camp
in Poland, supports a Jewish
newspaper, helps repair Jewish
synagogues throughout Poland,
and has launched a genealogy
project at the Jewish Historical
Institute in Warsaw. The March
24 program is free and open to
the community. For information

Machon Holds
Lunch Conference

Machon L'Torah, the Jewish
Learning Network of Michigan,
will hold an educational lunchtime

conference 12:15 p.m. Tuesday,
March 25, at the Detroit offices of
Honiginan Miller Schwartz and
Cohn.
Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg,
rabbi of Young Israel of South-
field, will lead a discussion on
"The Jewish Law's Perspective
on the U.S. Bankruptcy System."
The program will be hosted by
Rabbi Robert Weiss and will in-
clude a deli lunch before the lec-
ture.

FREE Plans
Purim Events

Friends of Refugees of Eastern
Europe will join with Bais
Chabad of North Oak Park to cel-
ebrate Purim 8:15 p.m. Saturday,
March 22, at the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Jewish Community Cen-
ter.
New Americans will be able to
follow the megillah in Russian-
translated megillot. The reading
will be followed by a party fea-
turing refreshments and live mu-
sic and dancing.
There will be a separate pro-
gram for children featuring a
masquerade party, and a video
depicting 'The Animated Book of
Esther," as well as the megillah
reading. All children will receive
goody bags and graggers.
At noon Sunday, March 28,
FREE will feature a Purim
se'udah (holiday lunch) for new
American children and their fam-
ilies. Highlight of the event will
be a Purim_puppet show by the
Puppet Art Theater of the S. Pe-
tersburg Theatrical Academy.

Reform Group
Study Session

The Reform Breakfast and Learn
Study Group will meet 7:30-8:30
