1968, Jerry and Steph-
anie Katz of Detroit pur-
chased their first briard, a
French herding dog. They
gave her the distinguished title,
"G'vert Kahlbah de Strathcona,"
Hebrew for Madame dog of

During the day, Jerry is a clin-
ical psychologist and Stephanie
is a registered dance movement
therapist, but on evenings and
weekends their hobby is canines.
They are both active in various
dog organizations. Jerry is pres-
ident of the Briard Club of
America and the Sportman's Dog
Training Club of Detroit. Steph-
anie is president of the Michigan
Federation of Dog Clubs and is
chair of judges education for the
Briard Club.
The Katzes will be exhibiting
their dogs Sunday, March 12, at
Cobo Hall during the
77th annual Detroit
Kennel Club Dog Show,
the world's largest
