They gave her the distinguished title, "G'vert Kahlbah de Strathcona," Hebrew for Madame dog of Strathcona. (Strathcona is the street where the Katzes live.) Kahlbah had her first litter in 1971, producing many champi- on offspring. The Katzes contin- ued the tradition of giving their champion canines Hebrew names. During the day, Jerry is a clin- ical psychologist and Stephanie is a registered dance movement therapist, but on evenings and weekends their hobby is canines. They are both active in various dog organizations. Jerry is pres- ident of the Briard Club of America and the Sportman's Dog Training Club of Detroit. Steph- anie is president of the Michigan Federation of Dog Clubs and is chair of judges education for the Briard Club. The Katzes will be exhibiting their dogs Sunday, March 12, at Cobo Hall during the 77th annual Detroit Kennel Club Dog Show, the world's largest "benched" dog show.
