Rehab, for people with in-
juries.
To overcome their condi-
tions, Nick Dopulos and Irv-
ing Friedman work out at the
; deeper end of the Jewish
Community Center at Maple-
, Drake pool on a daily basis.

collagen disease that affects
the muscles, and each day
\, he's in the water retraining
his muscles to perform. Mr.
Friedman has a very bad back
and shoulder. Both men claim
that the Hydro-Tone equip-
ment and aquatic exercising
have been their salvation.
They work their way from
the shallow water, into deep-
er water and back again to
shallow, matching their phys-
ical activity with their com-
fort level. With water at chest
height, 90 percent of their
body weight is neutralized by
the water's buoyancy limiting
the impact of motion and re-
ducing chances of injuries.
Thanks to the invention of
flotation belts and other de-
vices, deep-water exercising
is a challenging workout and
helps to speed the recovery of
overtrained or injured mus-
cles and joints. Deep-water
training allows the person to
do three workouts in one: aer-
obics, muscle conditioning
and improved flexibility be-
cause the pool bottom doesn't
come into play. Indeed, stay-
ing physically fit while in-
jured often improves a
person's outlook and helps
