LATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT:
"We just completed Phase

One of our endowment cam-
paign, $9 million, that we
started in 1988. We are
about to embark on Phase
Two."

PHILOSOPHY: "In my work I
want to impart a feeling of
warmth and gratitude to all
who participate in making
cancer fail. Fund raising is

Michigan Cancer
Foundation.
"A personal philosophy is
one of every day being able
to communicate something
that would make somebody
feel good. I'm a very positive
person and I feel very
strongly that if we can put
a smile on somebody's face
every day, it's important.
Also, my family is very im-
portant?'

first husband. They moved

family, she became active in
the Jewish community. Her
beginning mentor was the
late Celia Baruch, who was
active in Federation. In the
mid-1960s, she began work-
ing on legislative issues for
the National Council of
Jewish Women.
As a result of her efforts at
NCJW, Mrs. Ashcraft was
appointed by Governor
