few small pearl-handled
revolvers..."This gat." an-
nounced Groucho, "had git-
tens."...Almot immedi-
ately after that deduction.
the ship's captain moved
into view.:."I've got a com-
_ roared
plaint ."
Groucho... ``What is it?"
said the captain testi-
ly..."Last night when I was
in bed in my cabin, who do
you think came tiptoeing
along the corridor and tap-
ped on my door? - ...The cap-
tain said he didn't
know..."Nobody did," de-
clared Groucho, "and that's
my complaint."
One of Groucho's favorite
stories...some say it is
true...was about a Holly-
wood agent who came
home unexpectedly and
caught one of his biggest
clients making violent love
to his wife...The agent's de-
nunciations made no par-
ticular impression on the
guilty client... "Stop sound-
ing like a B picture, Joe."
he said. "Let's treat this sit-
uation like adults. You love
your wife and so do I. Let's
play one game of gin
rummy—and the winner
gets her. - ...The agent con-
sidered for a moment and
agreed... -Okay," he said
slowly, "but what do you
say we play for a nickel a
point on the side just to
make it interesting?"
TUNNEL-BAR-B-Q on
Northwestern and 12 Mile,
is finally open...Was done
quietly last
Tuesday...Tunnel here is
open seven days a week
from 11:30 a.m. til 1 a.m.
IRA LEVY of Mama
Zelda's, Southfield and 12L2
Mile, thought he had birds
in the place while recently
sitting in the restaurant of-
fice...Ira heard loud sounds
unlike the little two-leggers,
but no doubt birds'...He
wasn't hearing things...it
was coming through the
wall from next door, where
a bird broker had opened
up...with large parrots,
cock-a-toos, etc. noisily let-
ting people know they are
there.
One thing is for sure...the
food at Mama Zelda's is no
longer for the birds...a big
difference...and at prices
probably the most reason-
able in town.
SMALLEST
banquet
room in the world is at Al-
berts' Hamburgers on
Grand River...Seats four
people (can probably be
stretched to 10).
"THERE SHOULD be a
law against them—they're
so good"...This was Max
Sosin talking about the
strawberry blintzes at Ir-
ving's Deli on. Greenfield
and 11 Mile...Rose Guttman
had just made them and
Max cheated a little on his
diet to taste the delicious
devils...as did Sid Hudson,
who also went for some of
Rose's potato pancakes.
RUDY ANASTOS is rea-
son why food is good and
prices so low at the "new"

COMPLETE CHINESE MENU

After being a chef for 27
years at a few of Detroit
and suburbs top eateries,
Rudy looked for a spot with
low overhead to enable his
offering of quality and quan-
tity at low prices.
Now he is owner, chef
and head carver at the kind
of place Rudy has always
wanted.
His turkey is cut right
from the whole-bird...roast
beef juicy and fresh...and
people rave about his
broiled haddock or roast
chicken...plus daily spe-
cials...and Greek salad and
spinach pie.
Rudy has a relish bar
that he gives free with any-
thing, even a sandwich.

EVERGREEN SHOPPING PLAZA

Beef 'n Bird seats 145 in
a very clean, wide and airy
atmosphere...nothing fancy
or elegant, but the clean-
liness and pleasant sur-
roundings alone are worth
many visits now that Rudy
owns the place...He comes
in at 7 a.m. every morning
to do the cooking himself
for 11 a.m. daily open-
ing...Wife Angie helps • out
with some of the cooking,
too.
