United Nations Invitation to PLO

Re presentative.s of Detroit's
Jewish community will gath-
er 11 a.m. Tuesday ' at the
main Jewish Community Cen-
ter to register a protest
against the United Nations
deCision inviting the Pales-
tine Lib9ration Organization
to address the General As-
sembly.
The- -protest, part of a
nation-wide action, is em-
bodied in the text -of a letter
be presented to Grace
el, president of the Mich-
United Nations Associa-
tion. The letter states in part:
"The United Nations has
consistently ignored the ter-
rorist activities of the self-
proclaimed 'representatives
of the Palestinian people,'
which have resulted in the
murders of innocent men,
women, and children . . .•

This petition, bearing the
signatures of Lewis S.
Grossman, „president of the
Jewish Community Council
of Metropolitan Detroit; Dr.
Theodore Mandell, chairman
of the council's committee on
international, concerns; and
Betty Beinstock, president of
the Detroit Zionist Federa-
tion—will be forwarded to
UN headquarters in New
York City, and registered as
a formal protest against the
General Assembly's action
with the president of that
body.
Preceding presentations of
the letter of protest, repre-
sentatives' of metropolitan
Detroit's church and labor
leadership will address the
gathering and express their
concern about the precedent
created by the UN invitation
to an unelected, unrepresen-
tative and undemocratic ter-
rorist band.

man of Wildhern Lane, South-

Lou Gordon in Paper
Detroit TV interviewer and
commentator L o,u Gordon
will begin writing a twice-a-
week column in the Detroit
News, beginning in January.
Gordon has had a contro-
versial talk-show on WKBD-
TV (Ch. 50) for seven years,
and was considering an offer
to move his show to,Califor-
nia.
He now says he will stay
in Detroit, and switch his col-
umn from the Oakland Press,
where it currently appears,
to the Detroit News.
