A women's demonstration
in support of Soviet Jews is
being planned in Detroit,
along with 50 other cities, on
Human Rights Day, Dec. 10.
The public is invited to the
local program, at 12:30 at
Cong. Beth Achim. Coffee
will be served.
Emphasis of the third an-
nual "Women's Plea for
Human Rights for Soviet
Jews" will be on support of
Jews imprisoned in Soviet
labor camps and denied the
right to emigrate. Special at-
tention will be paid Sylva
Zalmanson, a 29-year-old en-
gineer, critically ill and de-
prived of proper medical
care.
Jewish- women's groups
throughout the nation will be
joined in their demonstra-
tions by women of other re-
ligious groups.
Featured speaker at the
Detroit rally will be Sister
Margaret Brennan, general
superior of the Sister Ser-
vants of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary of Monroe,
who serves as president of
the national Leadership Con-
ference of Women Religious.

Fr. Robert Drinan, Massa-
chusetts congressman, and
other members of the Inter-

viet Jewry, twice have been
refused visas to the Soviet
Union. Sister Margaret has
worked closely with Sister
Margaret Ellen Traxler, na-
tional co-chairman of the
National Interreligious Task
Force on Soviet Jewry.
