Espar Associates with
Swimming Pool Center

Julian Espar has become as-
sociated with Swimming Pool
Center, 28635 Northwestern, as
vice president in charge of
construction, Seymour Brode,
president, announced.
Espar, one of the Detroit
area's best known construction
superintendents, has directed
the building of more than
$150,000,000 worth of homes,
apartments and commercial
buildings within the past 14
years. A graduate mechanical
engineer, he coached swim-
ming at local country clubs to
finance his education.
Under Espar's direction,
Swimming Pool Center will
now offer a complete backyard
planning service, including ca-
banas, deck work, garden and
play equipment, and the pool
itself.
Swimming Pool Center is the
sole Detroit-area builder of
"Starlite" s p r ay e d concrete
pools.
Since its founding in 1957,
Brode said, Swimming Pool
Center has constructed virtu-
ally all the club, motel and
other commercial pools built in
the Detroit area.
Sonie of its current projects
include pools at Town and
Country Club, Forest Hills
Country Club, Birmingham
House Motel, and numerous
executive homes.

Mrs. Barbas Recovering
from Attack by. Youth

Mrs. Sarah Barbas, 80:year-old
mother of three Well-knOwn lo-
cal druggists, is recovering in
Sinai Hospital after she was
beaten by a teen-ager whom she
surprised in her home at 3303
Clements.
Mrs. Barbas had caught the
youth stealing money from two
purses. She was hit on the head
with her sabbath candlesticks
and suffered a skull fracture.
The woman lives with her son,
Sidney. There are two other
sons, David and Leonard. All
share in the ownership of Bar-
bas Drug Co.
