Espar, one of the Detroit area's best known construction superintendents, has directed the building of more than $150,000,000 worth of homes, apartments and commercial buildings within the past 14 years. A graduate mechanical engineer, he coached swim- ming at local country clubs to finance his education. Youth Mrs. Sarah Barbas, 80:year-old mother of three Well-knOwn lo- cal druggists, is recovering in Sinai Hospital after she was beaten by a teen-ager whom she surprised in her home at 3303 Clements. Mrs. Barbas had caught the youth stealing money from two purses. She was hit on the head with her sabbath candlesticks and suffered a skull fracture. The woman lives with her son, Sidney. There are two other sons, David and Leonard. All share in the ownership of Bar- bas Drug Co.
