have been conducted in many lo-
calities since 1922.
Distribution of seats to mem-
bers and friends of the move-
ment will take place every week-
day evening through Sept. 10 at
the Joy Road Synagogue and
the Yeshivah Building. Informa-

Given Promotions
58 Rabbis Are Serving in
Army, 6 in Navy; One Now
Lieutenant-Commander
The promotion of seven Army
and Navy chaplains of Jewish
faith to higher ranks and an in-
crease in the number of Jewish
chaplains on active -duty to 64
have been announced by Dr. Da-
deSola Pool, chairman of the
Committee on Army and Navy
Religious Activities of the Na-
tional Jewish Welfare Board.
Six Army chaplains were ele-
vated from lieutenant to cap-
tain, and one Navy chaplain, H.
Cerf Straus, of Alexandria, La.,
was named a lieutenant-com-
mander. The six newly-desig-
nated Army captains are Chap-
lains Max A. Baude, of Har-
mony. Pa.; Sidney E. Unger,
Philadelphia; Abba N. Fineberg,
Niagara Falls, N. Y.; Aryeh Lev,
Lebanon. Pa.: Jacob J. Honig, of
Hartford, Conn., and William H
Rosenblatt, of Los Angeles, Calif.

cies since their induction into

Of the 64 chaplains now on ac-
tive duty, 58 are in the Army
end six in the Navy. Four new
Army chaplains have been ap-
pointed in the last three weeks.
They are Joseph H. Freedman,
of Olean, N. Y.: Albert S. Gold-
' - ein, of Sioux City, Iowa; Alex-
nder D. Goode, of York, Pa.,
and Isaac Klein, of Springfield,
Mass.

Beth El's School Yeshivah Opens
