Y V r ii r r ewish Chaplains Given Promotions 58 Rabbis Are Serving in Army, 6 in Navy; One Now Lieutenant-Commander The promotion of seven Army and Navy chaplains of Jewish faith to higher ranks and an in- crease in the number of Jewish chaplains on active -duty to 64 have been announced by Dr. Da- deSola Pool, chairman of the Committee on Army and Navy Religious Activities of the Na- tional Jewish Welfare Board. Six Army chaplains were ele- vated from lieutenant to cap- tain, and one Navy chaplain, H. Cerf Straus, of Alexandria, La., was named a lieutenant-com- mander. The six newly-desig- nated Army captains are Chap- lains Max A. Baude, of Har- mony. Pa.; Sidney E. Unger, Philadelphia; Abba N. Fineberg, Niagara Falls, N. Y.; Aryeh Lev, Lebanon. Pa.: Jacob J. Honig, of Hartford, Conn., and William H Rosenblatt, of Los Angeles, Calif. The promoted Army chaplains join four other Jewish chaplains who have risen above lieutenan- cies since their induction into service. They are Chaplains 'Bernard Segal, of Queens Vil- Iage. N. Registration of new pupils is being held at the school office daily, except Saturday and Sun- day, from 9 A: M. to 5 P. M. New students must be accompanied by either parent or guardian when registering. The Religious School accepts children from the age of 4 (pre-kindergarten) through high school age.
