Best Spot for Lunchf
Amer's
Best Restaurant for the
Drunk
Best Greasy Spoon
Best Late Nite
Munchies
Brown Jug
Cheap beer, fantastic nachos,
and the high probability of running
into someone you know make the
Slug the perfect late night hangout.
Its nacho cheese has a congealing
speed which has been timed at
under seven seconds. Inebriation
greatly enhances its digestibility.
Best Deli
Zingerman's
Ann Arbor delis are a strange lot:
no bald 60-year-old named "Mort"

will serve you. Instead, you get a¢
philosophy student in a black
turtleneck. Furthermore, delis in
Ann Arbor sell more espresso than
Black Cherry soda. In spite of it,
Zingerman's makes some great
corned beef and turkey sandwiches.
Best Delivery
Domino's
What exactly constitutes best
delivery, anyway? Real dairy
cheese? Thirty minutes or less?
This one looks like a clear case of
word association.
Best Italian Restaurant
Gratzi
Nouvelle cuisine meets Italian.
But the best part is the pistachio
nuts at the bar while you wait hours
for a table.

Best Iorean Food
Steve's Lunch
Ann Arbor has three things going
for it ridiculous noontime rallies on
the Diag, an amazing basketball
recruiting class, and three campus
restaurants specializing in Korean
food. With its long counter, Steve's
Lunch rates tops.
3est Mexican Food
Taco Bell
"I'll have six soft tacos, three
bean burritos, and a Meximelt with
a small Pepsi, Duane." Duane the
Night Manager is always a friendly
sight after having left the bar of
your choice.
Best Middle Eastern
Food
Jerusalem Garden

Though farther from campus
than the other Middle Eastern
restaurants, Jerusalem Garden left
them behind in a puff of cumin
dust.
Best Burger
Blimpy's
"No shit. What do you want on
the burger?" Can't beat Blimpy's.
Want cheery help? Go to the Gandy
Dancer. Want a burger? You've
come to the right place.
Best French Fries
McDonald's
Best Onion Rings
Burger King
OK, so they have better 0-rings
than NASA... but just when did
Burger King become BK? Are they
just trying to "break the rules?"
Word has it that the BK Lounge
also took the blue ribbon in the

"rtost diverse clientele"ctegory.}
Best Pizza
Cottage Inn
Yes, the sesame crust is good,
but we think the Inn won because
it is the only pizza place in town
that serves Andes after-dinner
mints.
Best Hot Dogs
Chicago Dog House
Everyone still calls it "Red
Hots," but the readers say the Dog
House serves up the best dogs this
side of Chicago. Hint: the chili and
cheese fries make a great - and
highly caloric - meal in
themselves.
Best Fried Chicken
Kentucky Fried Chicken
Almost a winner by default -
hardly anyone serves fried chicken
in this town besides the Colonel.

Sroudest Moment
McDonald's High School
All-Star Basketball Game
After suffering through a
rebuilding year at Crisler arena,
Michigan basketball fans took an
encouraging look at the future. Four
members of coach Steve Fisher's
recruiting class put on a show for the
ages.
Chris Webber, a 6-foot-10
forward from Birmingham Country
Day, scored 28 points, including a
dunk with six seconds left to give
his West squad a 108-106 victory.
Future Wolverine teammates
Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, and
Jimmy King also excelled for the
West. King provided some fireworks
by winning the event's dunk
contest.
Best Event Not
Sanctioned by the
Athletic Department
The Michigan-Michigan
State hockey brawl at Joe
Louis Arena
This was a childish and

eribarrassing display A both
schools should be ashamed of
themselves.
Now that we have that out of the
way, wasn't this awesome? In an
otherwise sorry 6-2 Wolverine loss,
this donnybrook, occurring between
the first and second periods,
showcased more minutes of fighting
action than the Evander Holyfield-
Buster Douglas heavyweight title
match.
The fight started when Spartan
goaltender Jason Muzzati felt
compelled to compensate for not
playing in the game by attacking
Michigan starting goalie Steve
Shields. When Shields retaliated,
bedlam ensued. Don King is
reportedly seeking the promotion
rights to the teams' next meeting.
Most Tragic Moment
Tripp Welborne's injury
against Minnesota
Welborne served both as
Michigan football's nicest person
and highest NFL Draft prospect.
He was the guy who, with those
inhuman zig-zags, caused thousands

of fans to thin llectively, "I hope
he doesn't get a knee injury."
Well, he did it - and in a
manner no less grand than
Welborne's usual standards. The
senior safety dashed up the right
sideline, well into Gopher territory,
before being tackled out of bounds.
Welborne transformed a would-
be fair catch into a long punt return.
But on the play, his right knee
suffered the two most serious
ligament tears possible, to both his
anterior cruciate and medial
collateral ligaments.
Fans were relieved to hear of
Welborne's $1 million insurance
policy with Lloyd's of London,
which he collects if unable to play
professional football. But in a move
that deserves further
commendation, Welborne stated he
would pursue an NFL career
anyway.

Best pril Fools Prank
"Bo to coach football at
Ohio State"
P.T. Barnum was right.
