lini were fourth with 37 and the
Hoosiers were sixth with 18.
The Hoosiers had only two men
placing high last year, and they
had no individual champions. It
appears they are in a rebuilding
stage much like Michigan. To-
day's meet will probably be de-
cided by which of the "green"
wrestlers respond best under
pressure.
The Illinois squad is another
story. They claim, this season, to,
have the best chance for a Con-
ference title since 1952 when they
topped the Big Ten.
Their biggest threat is NCAA
and Big Ten heavyweight cham-
pion, Robert Norman.
He will undoubtedly give Wol-
verine's Steve Zervas the rough-
est test of the season. Norman
ranges between 235 and 240 lbs.,
has great agility for a big man,
and is heavily favored to retain
both titles this year.
Another strong Illini is Werner
Hotzer, Conference champion at
147-lbs. last year. He has moved
up to the 157-lbs. class this sea-
son. He was unbeaten last year
until the semi-finals of the NCAA
tournament.
Bill Muther is another promis-
ing Illinois wrestler. Runner-up in
the Conference at 137-lbs. last
year, he will be aiming for that
same weight title this season.
Dave Moore, Illini 123-lbs. man,
will be wrestling one of his last
meets ,since he graduates at the
end of this semester. His match
with Wolverine Mike Hoyles
should be interesting.
