Fashion and comfort are
stressed in men's shoes that seem
made to order for the active de-
mands of college life.
On the male side of the fashion
picture, white bucks are still in
great demand and the new "dir-
ty" bucks make it easier for the
men to be collegiate. Black and
white saddles will vie with them
for top classroom and casual hon-
ors.
One pair of soft, light desert
saddles in sand-color suede are
typical of the new leisure foot-
wear in stock for this spring. Pig-
skin plays an increasingly import-
ant part in the shoe picture be-
cause of its durability and smart-
ness. Thong-tie moccasins in fawn
p296
6 7t
shag should also prove very prac-
tical.
Conventional loafers and "coun-
try gentlemen" casuals will always
reign as favorites with University
men. They can be found in dark
or light tan, rich brown or shiny
black.
The comfortable crepe - soled
shoes are well-liked, too, with
their springy softness and light-
ness. "Canvas-tops," the new pop-
ular "glorified gym shoes," can be
seen in every lecture hall on cam-
pus. They, like the crepe-soled
shoes, are designed for "solid com-
fort" and can also be put in the
"Monday wash."
Foix more important occasions,
cordvans retain their high, popu-
larity-rating.

TELEVISION FOLD -- Originating on the country's newest form
of entertainment, TV, the television fold in handkerchiefs has
become the popular style with many producers, directors, business-
men and college students. In making a television or square fold
in a pocket handkerchief, start by folding the square in half
and then in quarters. Then, as in the upper picture, fold one side
one third of the width and fold the other side over it. The hand-
kerchief is ready for placing in the pocket after the end is folded
up almost to meet the top, as in the lower picture.

The cotton cord is classic among better dressed everywhere. Note, if you will, the style that
best compliments the fabric . . . it is a natural shoulder, three button front, narrower lapels,
no suppression of the waist, and detailed with hooked center vent, overlapped seams, and flaps
on the pockets. The trousers are cut with a plain front and the restrained proportions that
characterize the coat. The men for whom this suit was designed take the model seriously
* . * in fact they are not satisfied with anything less. This model is exclusive with Van Boven.

"The slacks that best compliment the iacket are our all wool tropical worsted in the oxford
