Faust To Be
Seen Saturday
Will Commemorate
German Poet Goethe
In commemoration of the 200th
anniversary of the birth of the
great German poet-dramatist Jo-
hann Wolfgang von Goethe, the
German department and the
Duetscher Verein will enact
scenes from "Faust" at 8 p.m.
Saturday at the Lydia Mendels-
sohn Theatre.
Tickets may be purchased at
the box office from 2-5 p.m.
Thursday and Friday, and from 2
to 8 p.m. Saturday.

CORNELIA OTIS SKINNER: Talent Show
Own Monologues To Be Given Here Hunts Local

Cornelia Otis Skinner will bring
her famous program of monologue
to the stage of Hill Auditorium at
8:30 p.m. Thursday in a two-part
program sponsored by the Ora-
torical Series.
The first part of the program
will consist of three modern mono-
logues written by the actress.
MISS SKINNER will then pre-
sent her unique interpretation of
the six "Wives of Henry VIII" in
six scenes. Background music will
be provided by a small chamber
orchestra from the School of
Music.
A special stage set is under
construction for the perform-
ance.
Dramatizing scenes from the
period from 1532 to 1547, Miss
Skinner will portray episodes in
the lives of Catherine of Aragon,

Score Victory
Charlotte Boehm, '49SM, won
first prize in a state-wide singing
contest sponsored by the National
Federation of Music Clubs last
week-end.
Evelyn Wohlgemuth, also a
music student here, took second
place.
The two Michigan winners will
compete with winners from Ohio
and Indiana March 5 for regional
awards.
Miss Boehm, who is a pupil of
Arthur Hale, will give a concert
in Ann Arbor April 28. She is a
member of Sigma Alpha Iota na-
tional music sorority, Michigan
singers, and the University Choir.

Searching Wind," "Lady Winde-E
mere's Fan" and "Theather" with
other actors, Miss Skinner is re-
turning to the theatrical medium
for which she is best known. Her
monologues are dramatically pre-
sented in costume on a regular
stage setting. They are not reci-
tations.
In addition to her acting, Miss
Skinner is author of ."Our
Hearts Were Young and Gay,"
and "Family Circle"-the biog-
raphy of her famous the:vrical
parents. She has also appeared
on the radio programs of "Wil-
liam and Mary" and "Informa-
tion Please."
Tickets for the performance are
on sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in
Hill Auditorium.

Club as their all campus talent
search gets underway.

zither or juggle golf balls, you'll
do well to haul your bag of tricks
over to the Union Ballroom from
1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday where,
the Union-League talent com-
mittee and Glee Club representa-
tives will pick out student talent
for their Spring variety show. ,
Professionals or non-profes-
sionals are eligible to try out.
Students can make appoint-
ments by calling the student of-
fices of the Union from 3 p.m.
to 5 p.m. any day this week, or
by contacting Bob Perrin at
4211 in the evenings.
Prizes of $100, $50 and $25 will
be awarded the three most out-'
standing performers in the show
April 24.
Until the first week of March,
the name of the talent show will
remain a mystery. Students who
think they can unravel the prob-
lem by coming up with a catchy
title can send in their entry to
the student offices of the Union
until midnight of that date.
Subscriptions to The Daily and
Gargoyle plus a copy of the '49
'Ensian will be given to the winner
of the name contest.
