Patricia Haff, '39, was named Or-
ientation chairman for transfers, and
the names of 71 advisers and 25 as-
sistant advisers were announced yes-
terday by Marcia Connell, '39, Orien-
tation chairman.
All women who petitioned for Or-
ientation positicns were interviewed
by the Orientation central committee
composed of Miss Connell, Jeanne
Judson, '40, Ann Arbor Independents
representative; Jane Dunbar, '40,
dormitories representative; Mary Ow-
en, '40; League House representative
and Mary E. Rouse, '40, Panhellenic

News of the engagement of Fran-
cesse Selter, '38, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Milo B. Selter of Coloma, and
Clayton flepler, '38, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Franrk Hepler of' Whitmore Lake
was announced yesterday at a lun-
cheon at Whitmore Inn.
Place cards, decorated with apple
blossoms, white ribbon and gold stars,
told the news of the engagement. In-
side each card was a tiny engagement

The twelve main officers of As-
sembly, organization for independent
women, will be introduced at the first.
meeting of the new Assembly Board,
to be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the
League ballroom.
r The three groups which are repre-
sented in Assemby, the Ann Arbor
Independents, the dormitories and
the league houses, will come together
for the first time in this meeting, at
which Betty Jane Mansfield, '39, pres-
ident, will preside.
To Discuss Business
There will be a short business meet-
ing, following which plans for the
coming year will be outlined and the
new officers, who, with the four ex-
ecutives, make up the Executive
Council, will be presented.
The new officers are as follows:
Ann Arbor Independents, president,
Mary Frances Reek, '40; vice-presi-
dent; Ila Waggoner, '39; secretary,
Norma Ginsberg, 039; and treasurer,
Mary Tilk, '39. From the league
houses, president, Margaret Grant, 40;
vice-president, Betty Myers, '39 and
secretary-treasurer, Doris Yoder, '38.
The dormitory officers are president,
Marjorie Tate, '39; vice-president,
Bettie Howard, '39; secretary, Anne
Besemer, '40 and treasurer, Lorraine
Lievrouw, '40.
To Name Positions
There are about 25 positions to be
filled later, Miss Mansfield said. The
executive council plans all the meet-
ings of Assembly and is the integrat-
ing body of the group, she stated.
A satirical comedy will be presented
following the business session

Women To Seek Positions
On Seven Committees
Petitioning for membership one
seven League committees will begin
tomorrow and continue through
Thursday, it was announced yester-
day by Jean Holland, '39, president
of the League.
Miss Holland stressed the fact that
freshman women as well as upper-
class women can petition. There will
be no interviewing, and committee
appointments will be announced early
this week.
Women can petition for member-
ship on the social, theatre-arts, merit
system, publicity, candy booth, ball-
room and dancing class committees.
Formerly the three vice-presidents of
the League in charge of the three
last mentioned committees called
women 'individually for work but it.
was felt committees would be filled
more..easily by petitioning Miss Hol-
land said.
The chairmen of the various com-
mittees are: Barbara Heath, '39, so-
cial; Robert Chissus, '39A, theatre-
arts; Janet Fullenwider '39, merit-
system; Harriet Pomeroy, '39, pub-
licity; Madeline Krieghoff, '39, vice-
president in charge of candy booths;
Betty Spangler, '39, vice-president in
charge of the ballroom; and Grace
Wilson. '39, vice-president

The Ann Arbor Independents will'
present a skit at the first meeting ofI
the new Assembly to be held at 5 p.m.
Tuesday in the League Ballroom.
Betty Spooner, '39, is general chair-
man. The central committee includes
Frances Herdrich, assistant chair-
man; Dorothy Hemingway, '39A, cos-
tumes chairman; Marie Eichelberger,i
'39A, in charge of sets; Margueritte
Ganzhorn, '39, dance chairman and
Frances Blumenthal, '40, who is in
charge of lighting.
To Be Comic Skit
The skit is a comedy take off on the
classics and some of the modern ar-
tists. Ruth Menefee, 39, will take thy
part of Satan. Calliope, the muse of
eloquence will be played by Louise
Mars, '38; Thalia, muse of comedy,
will be taken by Marguerite Groomes.
'39, the muse of music, Euturpi, will
be played by Betty Berstresser, '40,
and the muse of dance, Tersichory,
will be portrayed by Daisy Bihary, '40.
Other members of the cast are Ruth
Keck, '40, as Kirsten Flagstad; Betty
Notley, '38, in the role of Dorothy
Thompson. The part of Dorothy
Thompson's secretary will be played
by Merida Hobart, '39. Margueritte
Ganzhorn, '39, will take the part of
Martha Grahame. Mary Frances
Reek, '39, will take two parts, that of a
radio announcer and the role of Sap-
pho.
