The success of our attempt to nieet'
the needs of, and best reflect the in-
telligent purpose of the Un'tiversity

In the first place, just what is our
responsibility? By virtue of our ex-
istence as the newspaper of the Uni-
versity of California our policy must
be responsible to that institution as

serve and support the University in
