VACATION JOY.
I long for Summer's golden days,
cerulean skies and growing maize,
and hens to scratch the flower beds,
and sunsets with their yellow-reds,
canoeing 'neath the silver moon, and
quiet nooks where I can spoon. But
there is that which beats them all,
for, which I joyous, gladly fall. My
heart warms toward each tree and
shrub, but mnost of all to good homeQ
grub.
I'm tired of dining on roast beef,
and boarding chow. I would as lief
be beaten with the stinging lash, than
to consume eternal hash. The ever-
present spud's a sight that takes away
My appetite. Small wonder I disgust-
ed whoop to view the pale and eatery
soup. So turn I with expectant eyes
to Summer's days and Mother's pies.
Then ho for chickens golden brown
that win for Mother wide renown.
Ind sing of light-bread flaky white
thait fills my soul with deep delight.
.,,t mie exalt unto the skies her tooth-
somne cakes and sav'ry hies. Delicious
memories haunt ne still of aching
voids I used to fill. I cuss the fate
that bids me roam anti always dream
of meals at home.
