MUSIC AN)DPRAMAt,I
Munich Players.
Transported for -several hours into
a little Alpine village, a large audience
listened in wrapt attention to the de-°
lightful presjentation of Ganghofer 's {
comedy, "Almenrausch und Edelweiss"
by the Munich players, at the Whitney
theater last night. The perfect natur-
alness of the actors was the feature
of the production. Acting, so perfect
that, it scarcely 'seemed to be acting
heightened both the comic and pathet-
ic in the lively little section of Swiss
peasant life depicted in the play.
A trio of musicians,_ zither, violin
and guitar, entertained the audience
between the acts, : and the famous
"Schuplattler" dance featured the op-
ening of the third act.

We came here to be educated. Some
of us forget it, of course, in the excite-
ment attendant upon other" things,
but most of us still have a slight hank-
ering after knowledge. Knowledge is
an elusive enough thing when no ob-
stacles are put in the way of its at-
tainment. Hence it irritates, to be im-
peded in the quest of it, by some un-
expected little. obstacle: especially
when that obstacle is furnished by the
faculty'.
Though the desire mad be entirely
uncalled for, some of us wish, at tim-
es, to do a little reading. We wait
patiently at the delivery desk for half
an hour or so, and then the desk at-
tendant informs us that our favorite
professor is also interested in the
book'we want, and has had it out for
the past year or two. Perhaps we
might succeed -in having it recalled,
but the thought of all the labor and
waiting that such a process would re-
quire, deters such. action.
Perhaps the library stacks are in-
adequate, and should be suppldemented
by the bookca~es of the faculty. Per-
haps the salaries paid. to the members
of the teaching profession are insuffi-
cient to enable them to decorate their
homes with the proper number of im-
pressive looking books. Perhaps it is
well that our faculty should surround
itself with an atmosphere of thought
and culture. But perhaps it would
be better if some of the more remiss
tcok care to return the books which
they have no occasion to use, imme-
diately.

the Michigan State Agricultural Col-
lege and other state institutions will
