CRITIC EXPLAINS CAUSE OF
DECAY IN ART IEVELOP3LENT
Raymond Wyer, director of the
Hackley art gallery, at Muskegon, lec-
tured last night in the high school
auditorium upon "'The Art That En-
dures." The lecture was given under
the auspices of the Ann Arbor Art as-
sociation.
That periods of decline in art are
due to too much attention to literal
things; rather than to creative and im-
aginative ideals, was emphasized by
Mr. Wyer. He said: "Art frequent-
ly suffers from a blind following of the
ideals of the past. The present age
is one of fact; ideals are expressed
by real and not conventional designs."
