-Professor J. S. P. Tatlock will speak
on "The Problem of the Medieval
Church" in Harris hall this' afternoon
at 4:30 o'clock. This is the first of the
series of Lenten lectures.
-According to an announcement made.
yesterday by Dean Karl Guthe of the
graduate school, March 1 is the last
day on which applications may be fil-
ed for admission to fellowships. Up
to the present time fewer applications
have been received from University of
Michigan students than from those en-
rolled in other institutions.
-Wfr. Clarence A. Lightner, of De-
troit, will speak to the law students on
"Medical Jurisprudence," this after-
noon, in room G of the law building, at
3:00 o'clock.
-3. Ferdinand Baldensperger will
speak on "Maurice Barres et la Juen-
ese Intellectuelle en France" at 4:30
o'clock this afternoon in the Alumni
Memorial hall lecture room. The lec-
ture will be delivered in French and
will be one of the course of university
lectures. M. Baldensperger is profes-
sor of comparative literature at the
University of Paris.
--To choose a toastmaster, historian,
prophet, orator, valedictorian and a
representative to present the class gift,
the senior law class will hold a meet-
ing this afternoon in room B of the
law building at 4:00 o'clock.
-C. i1. Howell was elected by the
senior engineers yesterday morning to
the student council for the remainderi
of the semester.
-Professor Alexander Ziwet and L. A.
Hopkins, of the engineering depart-
ment, have just published a book enti-
tled "Analytic Geometry and the Prin-
ciples of Algebra" for use in the
freshman classes.
DR. MAURICE FULD SPEAS
ON "PRACTICAL GARDENING"
Dr. Maurice Fuld of New York City
addressed an audience of over 100, in
Harris hall last night on "Practical
Gardening." Dr. Fuld said that the
success of the gardener was dependent
on the nature of the soil, the grade of
the seeds used and the plants. He dis-
cussed each topic in detail, giving
pointers to the Ann Arbor citizens as
to how they could improve their pro-
duce.
