The People's Power Party, the lone
opposition in last month's National
Assembly election, had offered to send
representatives to meet with Mondqale,
but apparently none was on the list.
Party chief Benigno Aquino Jr. has
been in jail since Marcos imposed mr-
tial law in 1972. Macapagal, Roxas and
Salonga are members of the Liberal
Party.
Marcos opponents accuse the regime
of resorting to widespread fraud and
voter intimidation in the election, won
overwhelmingly by government can-
didates.
Beginning a 12-day, five-nation trip,
Mondale, his wife, Joan, and 19-year-
old son, Ted, were greeted at the air-
port by costumed dancers swaying to
the music of a brass band, then drove
past a roadside culture show that stret-
ched snix miles intos the c'ity.
