Detroit grand jury investigation
of radicals set for tomorrow
By MARK DILLEN
Detroit's federal grand jury
is scheduled to begin question-
ing two local radicals tomorrow-,
in what apparently has become
a full-scale FBI investigation
into the March 1 bombing of the
U.S. Capitol and last month's
anti-war activities in W a s h-
ington D.C.
Ken Kelley and Terry Taube,
both once-active figures in the
Ann Arbor radical community'
and one-time members of the
White Panther Party, were ser-
ved last Wednesday with sub-
poenas to appear before the
grand jury, whose proceedings
and intent have been kept sec-
ret.
Also believed to be subpoen-
ed by the jury to answer ques-
tions is Boston radical Colin
Neiburger. Sources have-specu-
lated there might be as many as
six persons subpoenaed by the
FBI for the questioning in De-
troit.
The series of jury Investiga-
tions-was apparently touched
off with the arrest of 19 year-
old Leslie Bacon for testimony
before the Seattle jury as the
government's "prime witness"
in connection with the Capitol
blast. Then Stuart Albert and

Judy Gumbo - two more radi-
cals - were called before New
York's jury and, in addition
subpoenas against other radi-
cals were issued by the Wash-
ington jury,
Bacon, the only witness yet
to appear -before a jury, has
refused to answer certain ques-
tions pertaining to radical ac-
tivities, and Kelley and most of
the others subpoenaed have
indicated they will also refuse to
comply.
Kelley and Taube have asked
for support in their hearing
which begins at 9:00 a.m. at
Detroit's Federal Building.
