Mayor Martha Scott wants to
know why is the city paying extra
money for two city attorneys.
In essence, attorney Victoria
Abdella and attorney Darnell
Dickerson are both receiving a
budgeted salary to do the same job.
Attorney Abdella mainly repre
sents and advises the city council
even though she was not originally
hired for the job. Council President
Linsey Porter said, "Abdella was
the best move city council have ever
made ... she does an excellent job."
Attorney Dickerson initially
represented the council until "he
began to mislead us" said Porter.
Porter stated that it all began when by Carla Huston

appearing at her deposition and
providing various documents or-
dered on May 15, 1991. .
However, a progre report was
presented to council by Abdella in
reference to allegations made
against Scott but was never signed
by Circuit Judge Richard Kaufman. .
Even though Scott feels that her
character is being d famed, she will
continue to make progress for
the city. The Mayor said, "It's 0.1{,

and to the citizens ... he mislead us
on issues and legal matters ... we lost
all faith." Porter also feels that
Dickerson represented Mayor
Scott fairly and not the council.
Attorney Dickerson stated that
he has the utmost respect for coun
cil and the citizens. "Whatever ac
tions I take, it is in the best interest
for the city of Highland Park, the
municipal cooperation" said Dick-

Scott said, "Darnell is the city attor-.
