On Sunday, Aug. 20, nearly 200 Metro Detroiters hopped aboard their
bicycles for a 20-mile bike ride and tour of historic Jewish Detroit.
Starting and ending at the former Meyers and Curtis Road Jewish
Community Center, now known as the Northwest Activities Center,
JCycle 7 headed through several of the lovely residential areas of
Northwest Detroit, then onto Ferndale, Oak Park and back.
At each of eight stops, including the former Adat Shalom Synagogue,
Beth Abraham Cemetery and the Jewish Senior Life building on 10 Mile
Road, JHSM volunteer docents greeted riders and shared historic infor-
mation about that location.
A bus tour of Northwest Detroit is planned for Sunday, Sept. 10.
Tickets begin at $45 per person and include lunch. For details about the
Jewish Historical Society of Michigan, visit www.michjewishhistory.org or
