Mara Schonberg, daughter of Ila and Les Schonberg of
Farmington Hills, was selected as the 2016 recipient of
the American Geriatric Society’s Outstanding Scientific
Achievement for Clinical Investigation Award. The recipient
must do outstanding research judged to be already impacting
the lives of patients. Mara’s groundbreaking work on improv-
ing decision-making around mammography screening in
older women and integrating prognosis to improve medical
decision-making for older adults, in general, meets this high
bar. She is an associate professor in medicine at Harvard’s Beth
Israel Deaconess Hospital.
