of Austin and Cody Page and Abigal
Bush. She is also survived by her sister,
Betty Fischer; and many loving nieces,
nephews, other family members and
friends.
Mrs. Fershtman was the bubbie of
the late Danielle Goren; the twin sister
of the late Gladys Rabinowitz; sister of
the late Kathleen Lax, the late Joseph
Achtman and the late Jack Achtman.
Interment took place at Machpelah
Cemetery in Ferndale. Contributions
may be made to the Danielle Goren
Memorial Fund for Youth Leadership,
c/o Jewish Federation of Lehigh Valley.

SHIRLEY
GOTTHELF
passed away in
Sarasota, Fla., on
May 23, 2016, after a
13-year battle with
cancer.
She was born in
Detroit on Feb. 16,
1932, and lived life
to the fullest until

the end.
Mrs. Gotthelf was the cherished
mother and mother-in-law of Gail
Gotthelf, Dennis Gotthelf (1955-2015)
and Beth Gotthelf (Steven Miesowicz);
proud grandmother of Dana De Witt,
Sarah De Witt, Paula De Witt and
Catherine Penley; great-grandmother
of Nollen Partee, Emma Partee, Vayda
Haithcox, Melissa Merrifield and
Megan Penley.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Gerald “Jerry” Gotthelf; daughter of
the late Harry and the late Lena Gross;
dear sister of the late Marion (the late
Harold/Hank) Gordon and the late
William “Bill” (Carol) Gross.
Services were held in Sarasota.
Michigan services are to be scheduled.

She is survived by
her sister and broth-
er-in-law, Barbara
and Jim Van Eaton

of Beverly Hills;
brother, Steven
Helfman of West
Bloomfield; her loving cat, Chloe;
many loving cousins, other family
members and a world of devoted
friends.
Ilona was the daughter of the late
Charles Helfman and the late Agnes
Helfman; the aunt of the late Adam
Van Eaton.
