Bugs Bunny-like voice? Now you've been

Don't give up. A happy marriage can

Killing a King tells the story of the two

David Maraniss: Once in a Great City: A
Detroit Story ($15)
In 1963, Detroit was the place to be. It
was the home of Walter Reuther, Berry
Gordy, Jr., and Lee Iacocca; the city of
great music and great cars, of innovation
and opportunity.
Or so it seemed.
Washington Post associate editor David
Maraniss is a Pulitzer Prize-winning
journalist and bestselling author whose
latest work focuses on his hometown.
Even at its peak, Maraniss says, Detroit
was plagued by labor challenges, mas-
sive political battles and a sharp division
of "haves and have-nots:' His book tells
the full story, from its greatest hits to its
deepest pain, of this remarkable city
