announce the birth of their son, Henry Rowen Fields,
brother to Adam Shea. Grandparents are Harriett and
Fred Rosen of West Bloomfield, and Cyndy and Larry
Fields of New York City. Henry is named in loving mem-
ory of his great-grandmother Helen Fields and his great-
grandmother Ruth Stotzky.

celebrated the b'nai mitzvah of
Cyle and Nolan Crisp, Lance
Markowitz, Isabella Simakas and
Aaron Warrow on Saturday, May
2, at the Jewish Community Center
of Metropolitan Detroit in West
Yoni Barash became
a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, April 18, at
Young Israel of Oak
Park. He is the son of
Sue and Michael
Barash of Oak Park
and the brother of
Barash
Peninah and Moishe.
Proud grandparents
are Judie and Richard
Moss of West Bloomfield, and Leonard
Barash of Phoenix, Ariz. He is also the
grandchild of the late Ellen Kraft.
Yoni attends Akiva Hebrew Day
School in Southfield. His most mean-
ingful mitzvah project is volunteer-
ing at the Friendship Circle in West
Bloomnfield.

Under the direction of teacher
Deb Motley, the students read litera-
ture dealing with young adults fac-
ing challenging situations, studied
intolerance of all types, and concen-
trated on concepts of tikkun olam
and tzedakah. As part of their diver-
sity curriculum, they visited the
Holocaust Memorial Center and the
Arab American National Museum.
Each student also completed a
paper on a Jewish topic and partici-
pated in a community service proj-
ect. Students spent time with their
parents volunteering at the Yad Ezra
food pantry and the Fall Fix Up;
many assisted at Friendship Circle,
various food banks and the Jewish
Federation's Mitzvah Day.

Jenna attends Orchard Lake Middle
School in West Bloomfield. For her
most meaningful mitzvah experience,
she co-captained with two friends a
Relay for Life team that sold Baskin-
Robbins ice cream at the event with
proceeds going to the American
Cancer Society.
