GILBERT DAVID
KAPLAN, 91,
passed away peace-
fully on March 6,
2015.
He was born in
Flint, May 11, 1923,
graduated from
Central High School
and served in
World War II. After
his return to Flint from the war, he
started Lewis Street Market with his
father and operated it for more than
30 years.
Gilbert was a lifelong member
of Congregation Beth Israel and
enjoyed attending many synagogue
activities including minyan. He loved
spending time with his family and
was a knowledgeable sports fan.
Mr. Kaplan is survived by his
wife, Lenore; sons and daughters-
in-law, Jeffrey and Helayne of
Bloomfield Hills, Edward and Debbie
of Houston, Texas; daughters and
sons-in-law, Marlene and Albert
Negrin of Richmond, Va., Susan and
Robert Cohen of Atlanta, Ga.; grand-
children, Carly, Marissa and Jeremy
Kaplan, Sarah and David Negrin,
and Megan Keller.
He was the son of the late Isidore
and the late Sadie Kaplan; brother of
the late Herman, the late Lawrence
and the late Naomi Siegel.
Contributions may be made
to a charity of one's choice or to

Services were held at Sharp Funeral
Home in Swartz Creek; interment

owner of the Poster
Gallery in the
Fisher Building for
Kaufman
more 30 years, died
Thursday, March
12, 2015.
She was the cherished mother of
Samuel (Stephanie Lau) Kaufman
and Anthony Kaufman; loving
grandmother of Ella Kaufman; dear
sister of Frances Kaplan; many
loving nieces, nephews, longtime
friends; loving ex-husband, David I.
Kaufman.
Mrs. Kaufman was the sister of the
late Miriam (the late Al) Clebone,
the late Lou (Gilda) Kaplan; devoted
daughter of the late Sam and the late

Sonia (Becker) Kaplan; beloved com-
panion of the late Norton Cohen.
Services will be held 11 a.m.
Friday, March 20, at the Ira Kaufman
Chapel. Interment will take place at
Agudath Achim Cemetery in Elyria,
Ohio. Arrangements by Ira Kaufman
Chapel.

AVRAHAM LEVY,
85, died Jan. 1,
2015.
He was born
in Bulgaria, July
25, 1929, raised
in Palestine
and fought in
Levy
Israel's War of
Independence.
Mr. Levy came
to Detroit in the 1950s to study at
Wayne State University, earning a
bachelor's and a master's degree in
political science. He married and
had three children, making his home
in Oakland County for more than 50
years.
He will be missed by his three
children and their spouses, Daniel
(Bat Sheva), Jonathan, and Miriam
(Peter); his eight grandchildren, Raz,
Noam, Yael, Yaron, Yuval, Andrew,
Eliana and Natalia; Lisa; Etti; and his
dog, Lucy.

LIPSHAW, 93, of
Oak Park, died
March 11, 2015.
She is survived
by
her daughter
Lipshaw
and son-in-law,
Susan and Dr.
Daniel Stettner of
Huntington Woods; grandchildren,
Ethan and Joanna Stettner, Elyse and
Dr. Rob Cohen; great-grandchildren,
Jeremy and Shaina Stettner, Ava and
Ryan Cohen; brother and sister-in-
law, Sam and Norma Girson.
Mrs. Pelzner Lipshaw was the
beloved wife of the late Mervin
Pelzner and the late George Lipshaw;
the cherished mother of the late Eric
Jay Pelzner.
Interment was at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park. Contributions may
