'Paradigm Shift' Course
Probes Wisdom Of Rebbe
Beginning May 11, Tugman Bais Chabad
Torah Center, in partnership with the
Jewish Federation of Metro Detroit, will
present "Paradigm Shift: Transformational
Life Teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe."
The classes will be
given by Rabbi Shneur
Silberberg; the course
is part of the JLI
(Rohr Jewish Learning
Institute) curriculum.
Distilled into six
succinct lessons, this
Rabbi Shneur
course offers an empow-
ering outlook on life,
Silberberg
culled from the wisdom
of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem
Schneerson. It is designed to appeal to
people at all levels of Jewish knowledge,
including those without any prior experi-
ence or background in Jewish learning.
"This course emphasizes the message
that the world is God's garden, and we
are all God's gardeners empowered and
entrusted with a mission to enhance
and beautify our surroundings," said
Silberberg. "Our discussions will provide
new perspectives, based on Kaballah and
Jewish philosophy, that give us a positive
outlook on how to respond to all that life
presents us with:'
"Paradigm Shift" will be offered twice
weekly; six Sundays, beginning May
11, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Bais Chabad

in West Bloomfield and six Thursdays,
beginning May 15, 7-8:30 p.m. at the
Jewish Federation Building in Bloomfield
Township. The fee is $80, and there is a
15 percent discount if two people sign up
together.
For information, contact Shneur
Silberberg at (248) 207-5513,
rabbishneur@baischabad.com or visit
baischabad.com/jli.

ammy Woolf was a prominent
Detroit bandleader and master
entertainer. Woolf's all-Jewish
band entertained guests at events all
around the Metropolitan Detroit com-
munity. One event was a GOOD BET, a
funfest drive for veterans in February
1948, where he and musician brother,
Mickey Woolf, donated their musical
services. Woolf continued to provide
musical entertainment for many veter-
ans' groups. One of his favorite venues,
for example, was the Detroit Marine
Hospital.
"The Listening Post," Danny Raskin's
column, stated in 1949, that "through-
out an evening he would entertain the
guests as never before" In 1966, it was
written, "Sammy Woolf has a poem
that's worth the money ... They call it
`Legal Tender"'

Woolf passed away in 1986 after he
had touched the hearts of many who
were fortunate enough to attend one of
his concerts.
Today, in 2014, the family tradition
continues. Woolf's great-grandson —
also a Sam — is a singer and is cur-
rently competing on the 13th season of
the popular television show, American

Idol.
