Ex-Skinhead Speaks May 8
On Tolerance And Diversity
The Anti-Defamation League,
Federation's NEXTGen Detroit and the
Holocaust Memorial Center (HMC)
will present inspirational speaker
Frank Meeink, a former white suprem-
acist, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the
HMC in Farmington Hills.
This presentation is open to the
community, ages 18 and above.
Following Frank's presentation, there
will be a young adult afterglow for
attendees ages 21-45 with wine, des-
serts and a meet-and-greet with the
speaker. This event is co-chaired by
Matt Bertman, Jeremy Crane and
Kevin Eaton.
Frank Meeink became a white
supremacist at age 13. By 18, he was
roaming the country as a skinhead
leader and recruiter on behalf of vio-
lent Neo-Nazi gangs. In Illinois, he
had his own cable-access TV show,
The Reich. He was finally arrested and
convicted of kidnapping and beating a
member of a rival skinhead gang.
While in prison, Meeink befriended
the very men he thought he hated
— men of different races. After his
release, he tried to rejoin his former
skinhead group but couldn't bring
himself to hate those whom he now
knew to be his friends.
Now a noted speaker, author and
founder of Harmony Through Hockey,
