Boynton Beach, Fla., formerly of
Detroit, passed away peacefully on Dec.
17, 2013. He was a beloved husband,
father, grandfather and great-grand-
father. He served in the U.S. Army as
an instructor in the information and
education department from 1952-1954
while stationed in Germany. He retired
from the Detroit Public School sys-
tem after teaching history, speech and
drama for 43 years.
Mr. Gold is survived by his wife,
Doris; his sons, Robert (Kathleen),
Jeffrey, and Kerry (Kathryn); grand-
children, Amy Gallinat (Jason), Eric
(Elaine), Heather Ayala (Nick), Ashleigh
LaPlante (Dan), Katelyn, Jonathan, Erin,
Andrea and Michael; great-grandchil-
dren, Madison, Bella, Kyle and Pacye.
A memorial service with military
honors will be held on Jan. 19, 2014,
at Weiss Memorial Chapel, 202 E.
Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach,
FL 33435. Contributions may be made
to the United States Army War College
Foundation (usawc.org ).

JACK GROSS, 90, of
West Bloomfield, died
Dec. 18, 2013.
A World War II
Army veteran, Mr.
Gross was stationed in
Hobbs, N.M., and was

then sent to Okinawa
Gross
in the South Pacific,
where, as a flight engineer, he worked
on B-17s with the Army Air Corps.
A member of the Aircraft Owners
and Pilots Association and the
Associated Locksmiths of America, he
was also active as a member of the Meer
Choir and a member of B'nai B'rith and
City of Hope.
Mr. Gross is survived by sons and
daughters-in-law, Stuart and Wendy
Gross of Australia, Dr. Arnold and Judy
Gross of West Bloomfield; daughter
and son-in-law, Rhonda Gross and
Robert Michalson of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Alana and Chris Nicol,
Jared Gross, Dr. Lindsey and Michael
Albenberg, Jonathan Gross, Jesse Gross
and Hannah Gross; great-grandchild,
Izzy Nicol; brother-in-law and sister-
in-law, Seymore and Sandie Resnick;
nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gross grew up in the same duplex
then became best friends and was the
beloved husband for 65 years of the late
Jeanette Gross. He was the brother and
brother-in-law of the late Harold and
the late Eve Gross, the late Paul and the
late Pearl Gross.
Interment was at Hebrew Memorial
Park Cemetery. Contributions may be

MARTIN
ROSENFELD, 91, of
Farmington Hills,
died Dec. 17. 2013.
A World War II
Army veteran, Mr.
Rosenfeld was a staff
sergeant and radioman
Rosenfeld
on the ship Zephyr and
even taught his grandchildren how to use
Morse code. A highly decorated veteran,
he served in Bismarck, the Phillipines
and Australia. He was a member of the
Jewish War Veterans.
Mr. Rosenfeld is survived by daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Cookie and Dr.
Bernard Gonik of Southfield, Shelley
and Don Rosenberg of Oak Park; son
and daughter-in-law, Michael and Beth
Rosenfeld of Farmington Hills; grand-
children, Dr. Ilana Gonik and Adam
Saltzman, Dr. Nathan Gonik and Dr.
Liz Dubey, Daniel and Esther Gonik,
Erin Rosenberg, Jason Rosenberg,
Aaron Rosenfeld, Mitchell Rosenfeld;
great-grandchildren, Mia Saltzman, Eli
Saltzman and Samantha Gonik; many
nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rosenfeld was the beloved hus-
band for 53 years of the late Dianna
Rosenfeld; the cherished brother and
brother-in-law of the late Harriet and
the late Irving Marash.
Interment was at Hebrew Memorial
Park Cemetery. Contributions may be
