BBYO Conclave
BBYO members will head to Tamarack
Camps in Ortonville for the annual Fall
Conclave retreat Nov. 5-7. This pro-
gram is open to all members of BBYO
and costs $150. Buses leave at 4:15
p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, from Adat Shalom
Synagogue in Farmington Hills and
return at noon Sunday, Nov. 7.
The theme is "BBYO Fall Conclave
2010: The Doughboy and His Time
Machine." The teens of BBYO will enjoy
three days of teen-led programming
ranging from a 1940s Holocaust oneg
Shabbat to a 1970s Stand UP campaign
and a 1980s dance party.
Rachel Klein, BBG Fall Conclave
coordinator, said, "We're excited to
incorporate such an exciting theme in
to our weekend:' Rachel, along with her
AZA counterpart, Michael Monteleone,
has spent many hours planning.

Meeting Of Minds
Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington
Hills will host a three-part lunch-and-
learn series titled "Where Moses and
Buddah Meet"
Rabbi Aaron Bergman will present
the series on Mondays, Oct. 18 and 25,
and Nov. 1 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Participants are invited to bring their
own dairy lunches. Drinks and dessert
will be provided. There is no charge.

Charity Poker
Israel Sport Center for the Disabled
(ISCD) Inaugural Casino Night and
Poker Tournament will be hosted by
the Adat Shalom Synagogue Young
Adult Group (Farmington Hills) at the
Jewish Community Center Teen Center
in West Bloomfield 7 p.m. Saturday,
Nov. 13.
Ticket prices are $50 for dinner and
casino chips and $100 for dinner and

The ISCD is situated on four acres
outside Tel Aviv. There are 2,500 chil-
dren at ISCD who are either born with
a disability, been in an accident, or are
a victim of terror. The ISCD helps with
their mental and physical rehabilitation.
Volunteer At SandCastles
SandCastles, part of Henry Ford
Hospice, is seeking volunteers for its
grief support program for children.
Opportunities include facilitating sup-
port groups of children or teens as well
as program and office assistance.
SandCastles provides a supportive
environment for children ages 3 to 18
and their families who have experi-
enced the death of a loved one. Services
are provided free of charge.
A new West Bloomfield site will
open in December. Other sites also are
located in Detroit, Clinton Township,
Downriver, Livonia, Rochester, St. Clair
Shores and Southfield.
Volunteer orientation sessions will be
held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 and
Oct. 25 in West Bloomfield. Additional
orientation sessions are available at

Kadima Eyes License
Kadima, a Southfield mental health
agency, has applied for a substance
abuse license through the Michigan
Department of Community Health.
The license would allow Kadima to
provide out-patient substance abuse
services to adults with a co-occurring
diagnosis of mental illness and sub-
stance abuse.

Cancer Support Group
"Together We Stand — Your Journey
Through Cancer" with facilitator Jodie
Jacobs is held on the second and fourth
Wednesdays of each month at Temple
Israel in West Bloomfield.
The next meetings will be 5-6:30
p.m. Oct. 13 and 27. This is a drop-in
group for those 18 and older recently
diagnosed, are in treatment or have
just completed treatment.
