Rabbi Michael Moskowitz especially
likes how "she is able to blend differ-
ent types of music into prayer; making
prayer natural and authentic through
the music she creates!'
Rabbi Daniel Schwartz, who joined
Shir Shalom in 2008, agreed. "She is

able to determine what the congrega-
tion needs at that moment:' he said, "or
she can change it on the spot, depend-
ing on the situation."
Art Fishman, longtime friend and
Temple member, added, "She makes the
prayers we say and sing more beautiful
each and every time. I can still hear her
voice long after services:'

A

Detroiters gathered Oct. 3
at the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield to hear a
live video broadcast featuring Minister
of the Knesset Tzipi Livni.
Livni, a former Israeli foreign minis-
ter and minister of justice, spoke from
a podium at New
Yorks 92nd Street Y
to an audience there
and by satellite to
audiences gathered
in synagogues and
JCCs across the
country.

Israel's Tzipi

Livni
is leader of the
loyal opposition to
Benjamin Netanyahu's ruling coalition

JSL Auxiliary
Meets The Press
The Jewish Senior Life of
Metropolitan Detroit Auxiliary will
hold its first Media Night, starting
at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at
Tam-O-Shanter Country Club in West
Bloomfield.
"An Evening With Jeff Zaslow and
Sherry Margolis" will feature Zaslow,
Wall Street Journal columnist, and his
wife, the Emmy Award-winning news
anchor with Fox TV 2 News.
Zaslow is co-author of Highest Duty,
on Capt. "Sully" Sullenberger, who
made an emergency landing of a U.S.
Airways plane on New Yorks Hudson
River. Zaslow and Margolis will speak

her role in opposing the Netanyahu
government.
She inadvertently commented on
J Street's activities in Washington,
D.C., by saying that critics of Israeli
government policy who are supporters
of Israel are expressing "belonging,
not betrayal:' J Street is a nonprofit
advocacy group promoting a two-state
solution and involvement of American
leadership to that end.
Livni called for a new and expanded
dialogue between Israelis and world
Jewry on Zionism, support for Israel,
a definition of a democratic state with
a Jewish majority, and differences
between secular and religious Jews.
Questions for the Knesset member
were gathered beforehand and relayed
to her by a moderator on stage.
Locally, the program was presented
by the JCC of Metropolitan Detroit
and its Seminars in Adult Jewish
Enrichment program.
